I’m lucky to live in a city that has many options for studio rentals. My favourite is Album Studios, which I use for most of the photoshoots I can’t do in my home studio.

When considering a studio space to rent, keep in mind the amount of space you’ll need for your lighting setup, the number of people in the room, and the space required for wardrobe, makeup, and/or product storage.

Some professional photography studios have rental departments for equipment and props.

I love photographing products and shoes, especially. My client, The Shoe Company, gives me a bit of creative freedom in setting up the shots.

For these photoshoots like this one, I like to shoot tethered to my laptop using Sony’s Image Edge Desktop Remote software. It allows me to shoot LiveView so that my clients and I can see what the shot will look like before the image is even captured.

At the same time, I set up an auto-import folder in Adobe Lightroom Classic to load the images into that application so that I can do all my image editing after.
